Patient-Centered Care for Your Smile

I can’t imagine a more fulfilling profession than dentistry. I’ve been practicing here in Scarborough for almost 30 years and am honored by the friendships I’ve made. My team and I are now caring for the smiles of the children and the grandchildren of some of my first patients. I take my responsibilities as a dentist seriously. There’s a strong connection between oral and overall health. By helping people take control of their dental health, and encouraging them to take better care of their bodies, I help them improve their lives. I’m particularly drawn to working with people who have dental anxiety. By carefully listening to a patient’s answers, and paying attention to their body language, I can make their visit a positive experience. I want each patient to know that I practice gentle dentistry: I want everyone to feel comfortable here and to look forward to coming to see us.

Education and Continuing Education

My Doctorate of Dental Medicine was awarded by Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1987. I’m an ardent believer in lifelong learning and have completed many courses through the prestigious Spear Center for Dental Education. Staying current on advances in technology, techniques, and dental materials ensures my patients receive the best of modern dentistry. I’m a member of the Greater Portland Spear Study Club, past president of the Greater Portland Dental Society, and active with the Maine Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Through these organizations, I learn from the leaders in oral healthcare. I also learn in a collaborative environment with numerous dental specialists.

Outside the Office

My wife Nancy and I are originally from Massachusetts. We moved to Maine in the fall of 1989 and to Scarborough in 1992. We currently live in the Higgins Beach area, which our two adult sons, Neil and Aaron, also call home. Nancy and I have a golden retriever, Grady. I enjoy taking him for walks on the beach and trails. I love all that’s available in Maine. I enjoy skiing in the winter, freshwater fishing in the spring and fall, and golfing with friends and family as soon as the courses open until the first snow flies. I’m not one to sit still: I also enjoy working in the yard, gardening projects, and detailing my cars. I also like taking in Scarborough High School sports games. Nancy and I have supported many of the booster clubs for both school and travel teams for many years.

In the Community

It is an honor to be involved in supporting and participating with so many worthy causes and groups in our community. I’ve sponsored the Summer Concerts in the Park, the Trivia Bee Team which was a fund drive for fuel assistance for Project Grace, and helped with a capital campaign for Camp Ketcha and the Scarborough Land Trust. I’ve also participated in the Dentists Who Care for Maine Day, which provides free or highly discounted dental care to those in need. Nancy was an initial board member for the Scarborough Education Foundation and is involved in other groups and community concerns, too.
